Dancing queen Danielle Polanco is a fountain of gems. In an in-depth conversation with GNRL, the choreographer extraordinaire who has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Omarion and Chris Brown kept it 100 about the state of dance in both the industry and the Internet generation.
“Everyone nowadays is way too jealous of what they don’t have instead of just commending the people who have what they have,” she says, adding that sharing dancefloor space with phenoms pushes her to work harder. “It’s okay that I know how to do this and you can’t. I’m sure there’s something you know how to do that I can’t.”
She also stressed the importance of embracing hard work. “It’s actually the sweat, the actual blood and tears that you have to love the most instead of what you get out of this,” Polanco said, flipping her own version of this quote from entertainment icon Bette Davis. “Now people want the fame and money but when the work actually comes, they hate it … and it shows.”
Even if your to-do list is longer than a Kanye rant, remember that every challenge is an opportunity to make you better.
