#Goals: 5 USA Soccer Stars To Watch During The Women’s World Cup

Abby Wambach

First thing’s first, Abby Wambach is the realest. The 35-year-old soccer veteran, who serves as Team USA Captain, played a whopping 90 minutes against Australia. The forward also leads the roster with five goals made this year. Wambach has 182 international goals (as of June 3), two Olympic gold medals and the ’12 World Player of the Year award under her garter. While controversy surrounded her decision to skip playing at club level for the Flash in the National Women’s Soccer League, her goal is clear. She said in a statement released by the club in March, “At this stage of my career, I know what I need to prepare mentally and physically for this summer. My sole focus is to help bring a World Cup back to the U.S.”
